HIDROMOD was selected as a winner of three Lots (out of thirteen) in a recent tendering process from Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS) aimed at developing and promoting Downstream Services.
The use of observation and forecast CMEMS’s products, along with HIDROMOD’s own high resolution models, will be demonstrated for maritime safety and coastal and marine environment in the areas of Lisbon, Sines and the Azores archipelago using the AQUASAFE system. For the Azores archipelago, enhancements will be made to the existing web and mobile platforms and to the integration of new forecast products in the downscaling modelling chain.
This selection represents an additional recognition of the quality of the services that HIDROMOD is delivering to its users dealing with navigation, port operations, water pollution prevention and emergency response. In this international tendering process HIDROMOD was the only institution selected for more than one Lot, in a framework were the competition was represented by relevant institutions like SHOM, TELESPAZIO, ISPRA, AZTI or DELTARES, among others.
