There is a close relationship between productivity of farmed salmon and sea temperature. This report is focused on bottom water temperature variability, offshore mainland Portugal, to support the development of the salmon farming industry.
Input data is mainly from CMEMS (Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service). For the 3 CMEMS’s datasets available, several statistical parameters were computed. Maps, time series and monthly variations are presented in the report. A table with the percentage of time with temperature between 12ºC and 15ºC, for two sites, is also presented.
In order to check for consistency, a set of 4 months of measured temperature data was used to compare with model data.
