The State Civil Defense of São Paulo, Brazil, held a meeting with the members of the Storm Surge Civil Defense Preventive Plan (CDPP) on 26/2/2019, at Bandeirantes Palace. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Environment (SIMA), the University of Santa Cecília (UNISANTA), the University of São Paulo (USP), the Regional Coordinator of Protection and Civil Defense of Baixada Santista and members of the Municipal Coordination of Protection and Civil Defense of Santos.
Among the main subjects of the agenda was the presentation of the AQUAFASE platform, used by the municipality of Santos to issue daily bulletins on wind direction, wave level and tide level, important data for the operationalization of the plan. It was also discussed the planning for the expansion of the Storm Surge CDPP to the north coast, south coast and other municipalities.
Hidromod and UNISANTA have partnered to maintain the Aquasafe operating platform in Baixada Santista, ensuring the permanent availability of local meteo-oceanographic forecasts.
The São Paulo Pilots is another of the users of the Aquasafe system of Santos.
